Melbourne Numismatic Society Meeting 14th March 2019

Our March meeting will be held on Thursday 14th of March from 8-10pm at the usual venue – Box Hill Arts Centre, Cnr. Station St and Combarton Ave Box Hill. This will be our Annual General Meeting. The various reports will be tabled and office bearers for the forthcoming year elected. If anyone wishes to nominate for a position the forms are available from the Secretary and will be available at the February meeting. There is no syllabus item for this meeting but the formalities usually don’t take long to complete so there will be plenty of time to bring along items of interest (especially your latest acquisition) for display and discussion. Coffee/tea and a biscuit to follow.

Above is the image of the MNS medal that was awarded to prize winners in our Coin Shows . The die now has suffered from some pitting and is no longer able to be used. This is likely to be a scarce medal. I have no idea how many were issued, for how long in the club’s 54 year history it was awarded, and how many have survived. Do you have one? Does it have a plain reverse or one with the winners name inscribed?
